     Violence against women and children (VAWC) , this issue is no longer a stranger to our country. It is real , it is happening , it is damaging and claiming lives .
     VAWC is linked with the unequal power relationship between women and men. We all know that men are traditionally labeled as leaders and providers while women are seen as nurturers and supporters only. This perception leads to men gaining more power over women and this VAWC is a form of men's expression of controlling women to retain power.
     Many people , especially women are not aware about the law on the protection of their rights against violence. Unawareness is one the reasons why violence still remains.
     We should be knowledgable enough to know our rights because violence is not only a crime , but also a violation of human rights.
     VAWC affects women's physical and reproductive health and especially their mental and emotional state , this is the reason why the government implemented the RA 9262 , an act defining violence against women and their children , providing protective measures for victims.
     AWARENESS IS THE KEY TO END VAWC.
